This is an intermediate language course that focuses on dialectal, grammatical, morphological, and phonological properties of the Portuguese language spoken in Brazil. Students will study the different varieties of Brazilian Portuguese, while developing the four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. This course is considered a bridge-course between the elementary language sequence and more advanced courses in the program.
This is a Portuguese course specially designed for students who are already proficient in Spanish (or another Romance language). Students will use their previous knowledge of another Romance language to help them develop their linguistic abilities in Portuguese. Similarities and differences between the languages will be explored as a tool to promote fast and solid acquisition of communicative skills in Portuguese.
