This course explores the resurgence of Russia as a
major player in the international arena. It examines the goals and agenda of
Russia's foreign policy and focuses on the key areas of Russian concern and
engagement in the world. Russia’s strategic interests, security concerns,
domestic core of foreign policy, and mechanisms of decision-making are
expounded. Students will gain insight into the mechanisms of regional
integration policy design and planning by the Kremlin in the post-Soviet space.
The renewed geopolitical competition of Russia with the United States and the
European Union is highlighted.
